Four Steps to Membership

Local Church Membership . . . We believe it's very important. (Click here for why Church Membership is so important.)

It's so important to us that we work diligently to prepare potential members as God brings people into our fellowship to join us in this mission.

*Joining Randolph Street Baptist Church happens in four steps:

#1) Class: “Starting Point” - 8 sessions led by Pastor Jason and other elders – restarts regularly

  • Week 1: The Gospel and its Effects
  • Week 2: Mission Statement and Life-cycle Overview: "Gather, Learn, Serve & Go."
  • Week 3: RSC History, Values, Visions and Dreams
  • Week 4: The Theology and Purpose for Church Leadership
  • Week 5: The Theology and Purpose for Church Membership
  • Week 6: We are God-Centered, Gospel-Saturated and Expository-Preaching
  • Week 7: Ministry Involvement, Missional Members & Biblical Responsibility of Giving
  • Week 8: Questions and Answers with Staff Pastors

#2) Commitment Form: a document to be completed and submitted to a staff pastor (Click to download)

  • At the end of Starting Point, class participants are invited to prayerfully consider submitting their membership commitment form.
  • Having this form answers the questions: "After the class, now what? How and to whom do I make my membership desires known?" This clarifies the next step toward membership.
  • The commitment form confirms that the participant is in agreement with the Membership Statement of Faith.
  • Prospective members may submit their completed form to any staff pastor.

#3) Conference: Meeting with at least two elders, usually on a Sunday or Wednesday

  • Allows the elders to get to know the prospective member
  • Allows the prospective member to get to know the elders
  • Provides a time when the elders can have special prayer for the prospective member

#4) Covenant: Affirmation with the entire congregation

  • New members join the elders at the auditorium front as everyone stands to read (from the screen) the Church covenant (taken from Article 2 of the Church Constitution).
  • This service normally takes place during a designated Sunday morning worship gathering after a sufficient announcement period.
